One winner will be published in the Brandon Sun and in the official program of Words Alive. To be held overnight, Oct. 25-26.
Sign up here! Thanks to generous support from the Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, we're proud to offer Words Alive completely free of charge this year!

Our short story competition is 24 hours of adrenaline- and caffeine-fuelled frenzy. Do you think you have a short story in you?
The assignment is simple, the challenge may not be. To participate, simply show up at Pennywise Books, on Rosser Avenue, downtown Brandon, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. There, you will receive an opening sentence, a character, or a theme that you must incorporate into a short story.
You will have 24 hours to write your short story.
Drop off a completed, printed manuscript -- incorporating the given sentence, character or theme -- to Pennywise Books by 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26 to complete your entry.
Entrants will be judged on the quality of their writing as well as the skillfullness and seamlessness with which they managed the challenge.
One winning entry will be published in the Brandon Sun as well as in the official Words Alive 2008 program guide. Runners up may also be selected.
This contest proudly presented in association with the Brandon Sun.
